This summer, on a family trip to Vancouver, I came across a delicious ramen place called Horin where I was drawn in by the beautifully presented food. My family and I wanted to visit so many places and see so many things, and here in this ramen shop was an unusual and perfect desert that forced me to enjoy what was happening around me. It was the kind of sweet that once I had savored my last spoon full, I missed the creamy and slightly bitter notes that once sat before me. It was my first bittersweet experience of the summer and even though I went to this restaurant many times more during the visit I still miss it. I also was faced with a conglomerate of new experiences and losses over the past couple of months.
